We outline some activities - both tried and suggested - with some indication about their relevance to the spiritual lives of Care Home residents.
Links are offered to fuller detail on this site and elsewhere.
Art & Crafts
Seeing, appreciating, reflecting the world around us and its beauty.
Various means can be used for this:
Bread-making or baking
Creativity, sustenance and dependence.
There are clear themes from the Biblical story, while the activity encourages some care and some physical action.
There is a wide variety of games that can be played, some with adaptation, by those in Care Homes. We will compile a list on the accompanying page for reference.
Over time we hope to create a 'library' of games of all kinds that can be used in different settings.
Marking Times & Seasons
Various ideas focussing on times and seasons, natural and Christian that tap into memory, relationships and seek to support faith in the later years of life.
A simple activity but important for those with failing eyesight.
As churches become engaged with the Project it is hoped that some activities that would normally take place on church premises might be moved, with adaptation, into the setting of a care home.
Residents of The Grove have helped in the flower arranging for the Harvest Festival at Christ Church. Arrangements were returned to the home for their own harvest service in the following week.
